After the death of his mother, college professor Ray Strickland is plagued by a mysterious presence that seems to be inhabiting the sizeable mansion that he has inherited. At first, the entity makes itself known in subtle ways, but as more time passes, it becomes more aggressive and threatening, affecting every aspect of Ray's personal life. This House is Empty Now is an expertly crafted mystery tale that walks the fine line between supernatural ghost story and psychological suspense. The author paints an intriguing and totally credible cast of characters by using authentic elements of humor, philosophy, and tender human emotion. Like all of the best mystery novels, Iorillo craftily presents all the clues and allows the reader to try to piece the mystery together before the final revelation. Reminiscent in tone of M. Night Shymalan's The Sixth Sense, Iorillo's story is an intriguing character study that uses supernatural elements to spin a tale of inner reflection and true love. Highly Recommended.
